I-485 Adjustment of Status
Application to adjust to lawful permanent resident status from within the United States based on an approved or concurrently filed immigrant petition.
Adjustment is a bundle — six forms, a sealed medical, a sponsor's financials, and a status history with no gaps in it. Most RFEs here are clerical, which means they are exactly the kind a checklist and a page-cited read of the file prevent.

- I-864 Affidavit of Support with sponsor financials
- Birth certificate with certified translation
- Proof of lawful entry: passport, visa, and I-94
- Two passport-style photos
- Underlying petition approval or concurrent filing
- Status history documents
If it applies
5 items- Certified court dispositions for any arrests
- EAD and parole history
- Supplement J — confirmation of the job offer (employment-based cases)
- Marriage certificate and relationship evidence (family-based cases)
- Photos and documents for the EAD and travel permit (I-765 / I-131)
What the evidence is measured against

Filed unsealed, or signed outside the validity window.
Birth certificate non-compliant
Not the long form, or without a certified translation.
Proof of lawful admission or parole
No I-94 or entry stamp establishing an inspected admission.
Criminal dispositions incomplete
An arrest disclosed without the certified final disposition.
